Unbaked (Duh)

Baked (Duh again, but prettier)
Call you smell it?  I can!

I used THIS RECIPE today to make these baguettes.  I feel dorky calling them baguettes though.  It's just French bread, okay?  It was super-fast and easy.  Just 30 minutes total rising time and 15 minutes to bake.  A keeper!

A crappy picture, if I do say so myself.  The colors don't show up correctly at all.  Hmphf.  It will eventually be a pillow once I get 8 more of these babies done.

I got the pattern HERE.  There should be more patterns available soon.  For some reason it's not there anymore.  I've sent the owner a message so she can relist it.

Still no luck on the other flower square yet.  I honestly haven't even tried again.

Have a happy weekend!

More Flower Square Stuff

I've decided that I like the original flower I made better, even though it's not exactly like the one in the pattern, and I'm going to use it instead.  Here's a picture of it:

Here is my attempt yesterday at framing the other flower.  It's all wonky.  I have too many stitches in the frame and will have to try again.

Don't laugh at me!  Ha-ha-ha.  Okay, go ahead.  It is funny.  So I'm not very talented in the pattern department.  Sue me.  At least I'm trying!

If you have any suggestions from looking at what I did, please feel free to tell me about them in the comments.  I obviously need help with the framing rounds.  Keep in mind, I'll be using the other flower which is a bit bigger than this one.  That ought to really confuse me when I go to try it again.

Note:  Ghost kindly pointed out that I had an error in the pattern I posted yesterday.  I've fixed that error now.  After finishing Row 2, you will have 8 loops instead of 6.)

Oh, and the owner and creator of the flower garden blanket said she cannot help me as far as writing the pattern because of the language barrier (she's Turkish).  She said she'd try to take some pictures next week while making another one and see if that helps.  I'm just too impatient to wait!  You guys know me by now.  I must have things immediately and get frantic about it, and then once I have it, it takes me months to finish most things!  That's just the way I'm wired.

I was really tired last night and started thinking that I was just going to forget about trying to make one of these blankets.  I know it's going to take a LONG time to make all those flower squares, and I'm not sure I have the wherewithall to do it.  I did make a granny blanket with 99 squares a very long time ago, but I don't remember exactly how long it took me.  I know I started it and then put it up for awhile before finishing it later.  And I do have that other blanket with 330-some odd squares to make.  I only need three or four dozen of those squares to have enough, and they are only 3-round squares and are itty-bitty.

But I'm not going to just forget it.  I want it, so there.

First Draft of Flower Pattern

I have made something very close to the I need some help on the border.  I just could not figure it out.  It seems like it would be easy, but I tried three times and gave up last night.  I'll try again tonight if nobody else can figure it out for me.

This makes a smaller flower than the one I made yesterday.  I'm going to share what I did so you can make the flower if you want and see if you can figure out the rest.  It may look slightly different and closer to the original once you get Row 4 & 5 added to it, but I don't know.  I don't think this is exactly right, but it's close.  If you can make something closer to the one in the picture, let me know your changes.  Thank you.

(You'll notice in the comments that the person who made the blanket left a comment.  I've emailed her to see if she is willing to help me.  Here is her blog link:

Pattern Help Please?

Does anybody know where I can find THIS PATTERN or one similar?  Or could one of you smarties write a pattern for it by looking at the picture?  I'd be forever grateful.  Please don't make me do it.

This is going to be a fun site, by the way.  You might want to put it in your Favorites!

I glued everything instead of sewing.
Much quicker and doesn't look any different.
Have I mentioned I hate to sew?

Mayfair Cookie Jar

Oh my gawd, this makes me laugh hard.
That big breath he takes while holding his nose is hilarious.

Mmm...Strawberry Koolaid anyone?
I'm totally addicted.

I just love watching THIS VERY SHORT VIDEO.  I've watched it over and over again.  It's only 22 seconds.  I don't know why it fascinates me and makes me happy.  Maybe it's the music.  Maybe I'm just weird.

I had tonight's dinner (a Mexican casserole) made by 9:30 this morning and popped it in the fridge.  Am I a ball-o-fire or what?  Who's your momma?

Now if I can just force myself to finish my work and quit doing other things, I can go outside and plant that lettuce garden.  I'm doing it today no matter what, I swear!

And maybe later I'll drag out the purple pineapple afghan and work on that somemore.  Nah.  I don't know why, but it's boring me to death and I'm only three pineapple rows in.

Okay, that's it.  Y'all take care now, ya hear?  Go outside for 10 minutes and soak up some Vitamin D.

Accidental Garage Sale

We were coming home from Lowe's yesterday when we drove by a house that had four items sitting out front with a "For Sale" sign.  We whipped around and found two items we couldn't live without.  This is a really cool beverage cart in nearly perfect condition.  $25

And this vanity stool in absolutely perfect condition.  She still had the plastic wrap over the seat of it.  I've been wanting a vanity stool for 17 years, and I finally got one!  Also $25.

I made these three birdies yesterday.
I love my birdies.  That makes six now with more to come.

And finally, I got this purse at Target yesterday for $14.99.
Love it!

Today I am rearranging the master bedroom veeeerry sloooowly so as not to wear myself out.  I love to rearrange the furniture every few months in the master bedroom and living room.  It's just one of my "things."

We went to Lowe's yesterday because I wanted some new shelves/storage for all my crap (crochet stuff, books, yarn, etc.).  Barnaby is putting them together right now.  I ended up getting two smaller units with 9 cubbyholes in each one to place side by side.  I bought some canvas storage boxes that fit perfectly inside each cubbyhole.  I'll get a picture or two when I'm finished organizing.

I'm going to get rid of a bunch of odd tables I currently have.  I love small tables and have collected many over the last few years.  Some of them are just crap and need to go (okay, most of them).  I'm planning to have a garage sale in a month or so to clean out my house.  I have way too much stuff I don't need.

We're watching the NASCAR race at Talladega while we both work around the house.  After the race, I plan on taking a little nap.

I have to work for a few hours this evening.  I've been putting it off all weekend because I just wanted to goof-off, but it must be done.

Hope y'all had a nice weekend.  We did.  Bye-bye.

Pineapples in the Round

This is not really supposed to be a tablecloth, but I laid it out here so you could get a good look at it.  It's supposed to be a baby christening blanket.  It looks great draped over the back of the couch.

Pattern Name:  Pineapples in the Round
Pattern in:  Afghans for All Reasons and All Seasons (Leisure Arts)
Yarn Used:  Caron Spa in Soft Sunshine
Hook:  Size I
Finished Size:  42"
Changes:  I changed up the final round just a bit.  I didn't like how all the picots looked so ragged.  I'm not a big fan of the picots.

Note:  This pattern is riddled with errors.  There are many corrections that need to be made if you're going to get it right.  I can't believe Leisure Arts published a pattern in one of their books that was not properly written or tested.  I wouldn't recommend this for beginners unless you have an advanced crocheter to help you figure out the corrections (unless you just want to drive yourself crazy, then go for it).

I'm Well

I'm feeling tons better and will be back with a full post tomorrow sometime.  I finished a big crochet project today and it's blocking tonight, so I'll have a big Ta-Dah for you in my return post.  I'm so proud of it!

Comments are open again.  I just didn't want y'all to feel like you had to keep commenting and saying you hoped I felt better soon.  I know you do.  Y'all are the best blogger friends anyone could ask for.

See ya tomorrow!

Sickie Update

I know I said I wasn't going to be blogging, but I thought I'd pop in and let y'all know that I did go to the doctor.  I have pneumonia, but I have steroids and antibiotics coming out my ears now so I should feel better very soon.

I don't feel overly-stressed, and there is not one pile of dog vomit anywhere to be found.

I will not be back until I'm well, a freakin' ray of sunshine, and with only good, fun things to impart...

Ha-ha-ha...good one, eh?

I'm Having a Bad Day

...And the sun isn't even up yet.

I was going to go to the doctor this morning at 9:00, BUT...

This is the email I sent to my business partner this morning edited a bit.  Rather than typing it all out again, I just copied and pasted it here.  I know she'd like to kill me because I have been sick so much the past two weeks, and we have had a shit-ton of work which I haven't been able to keep up with my part like normal.
It is 5:15 in the morning and I have not slept a wink all night. All three dogs, at various times separate from each other, kept wanting outside. Then just when I thought they were starting to settle at about 3:30, the vomiting started -- Sammi. I had just drifted to sleep when I heard dog noises in the dark and turned on the light. VOMIT EVERYWHERE IN THE BED. It was so bad, I just wadded up the sheets and threw them in the garbage, and I wadded up the bedspread and threw it away too. I also had to remove the 3-inch foam topper from the bed and throw it away. (Barnaby is in the guest bedroom sleeping with the door closed.  He ends up there more often than not because he keeps me awake with his snoring, and lately, I have kept him awake coughing if he isn't snoring!)

I get all that cleaned away and sprayed the mattress with Lysol. It doesn't have vomit on it, but it just seemed icky after all that crap going on. I took out some clean sheets and put them on the bed. I turned around to find a new blanket to put it on next, and Sammi jumps onto the bed and before I can even yell at her to get down, she vomits a GIANT pile of mostly water, but still. It soaks through the sheets I had just put on the bed as I'm ripping them off trying to keep the mattress from getting wet.

I gave up and just shut my bedroom door and came into the living room where I find two more piles of vomit to clean up. I rip up the throw rugs (we have all wood now) and get them put up so they don't get vomitted on next.

Ken had fed the dogs some smoked meat last night about 10:00 (with me protesting the whole time that it would make them sick).  He swears he only gave Sammi a small bite.

I am about ready to lose my mind this morning. Seriously. Somebody kill me.

I doubt I'm going to the doctor this morning because -- get this -- I am too sick! And tired!  Ha.

I'll talk to you later.

I am so freakin' stressed.  I am just sitting here in the pre-dawn bawling.  Barnaby seriously told me this morning that he thinks I need to "go somewhere and check-in for awhile" because I haven't been myself lately.  I think that's a little dramatic.

This past month:  I had to put my two oldest dogs to sleep, our workload with my business has been extremely heavy because of a big 3-month project we accepted on top of our normal work, I have been sick for 14 freakin' days with THE CRUD FROM HELL, and today, I haven't slept for 24 hours because of sick dogs and a vomit storm that had to be cleaned up.

I think anybody would be stressed.

Comments are closed for this entry.  I just had to get all that out.

And I think I'm taking a little vacation from blogging.  I'm not sure how long, but at least until I get over this cold or whatever it is and am not a sickie.  Hopefully I'll be back in a few days or a week or so.

Glass, Lettuce, Popcorn...

Not a great picture, but this is most of my glass.  I have three large vases and one very large pitcher that are not pictured.  I'll show you those another day.

Barnaby got me my lettuce seeds, a big round planter, and a large bag of Miracle Grow soil so I can have a container lettuce garden like Kate's (see second picture down in THIS LINK).  Isn't it pretty?

Thanks for the idea and instructions, Miss Bell.  We'll watch it grow together and hopefully it won't become a dog buffet!

Oh, and I see y'all eyeballing my yellow pineapples next to those seeds...

Quit peeking at my unfinished crochet!  Hee-hee.

And Finally...

Recipe compliments of Beverooni.  Y'all pop on over there and get it for yourself.  I only made 1/2 a recipe and it's still plenty for two people.

Thanks, Bev.  It's yummy.

Yes, I am still sick and completely miserable.  Spent a good part of the day in bed again.  I'm just trying not to whine about here too much.

I think it's time to break out the BRAT diet...

Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea.

Maybe that will at least get rid of the BIG D and stomach cramps.

I'm a Winner

...because I am an evil, ruthless bidder on eBay.  I skulk around until the last possible second and then....BAM!  I Win!  I Win!  I used to get really upset and take it personally when I didn't win.  That is why I learned to be a sneaky, under-handed, weasel and pounce at the last nano-second.  Bwa-ha-ha-ha.

The "tangerine" glass pictured in the last post is mine!  I chose to let the amethyst one go because it got too expensive, but there's another one coming up in a few days that's exactly the same.  I'll give it another try.  There's also another tangerine pitcher exactly like the one I won that I had already bid on.  I'm currently the highest bidder, but I bet someone will outbid me if I want to let it go.  I wouldn't mind having two of them, but we'll see.

I also won a lot of 22 old issues of Crochet Today Magazine and a few other crochet mags that I can't remember the name of.  I'm sure they'll show up in a giveaway some day when I'm finished with them.

I feel better again today after two days of a relapse where I felt like death and stayed in bed for nearly 48 hours straight and slept.  I think I got dehydrated and that was part of the problem.  I'm drinking my strawberry Koolaid now, fully-leaded with REAL sugar!  Horror of horrors!  My lord, she's practically drinking straight sugar!  No wonder she's sick all the time!

Good night.

Auction Glass

Here are two beauties I am attempting to buy on eBay in the next few days.  I haven't bought any new glass in a very long time and figured it was time to treat myself.  I think these two pieces are fabulous.  Most of my glass is either Blenko or Pilgrim handblown glass. These two are Pilgrim. I'll get a picture of my collection in the next few days and show it off to you.

I slept all day today and all evening (and even overslept a 2:30 business call I was suppose to be recording...DOH!).  I've been awake for maybe an hour and I'm fixing to go back to bed.

I'm not sure, but I think I might have malaria.

WHAT?  Too dramatic?

Okay, it's not malaria, but it's something.  Well, that was profound.

Good night.

No Cursing Zone least not today.  I used up all my bad words for the week yesterday.  Yeah, right.

Well, I WAS much better and getting over the cold or whatever I had, but now I apparently have something else or maybe just Phase 2 of the same thing.  My stomach is messed up and there are awful things happening in the bathroom, if you know what I mean.

All the coughing has messed up my vocal cords again.  The same thing has started happening that I went through a year ago or so.  I'm pretty sure the granulomas are back.  It feels exactly the same.  My voice is gone most of the time and it HURTS and the spasms started up last night.

So that is why I felt shitty yesterday and still do.

I have to go and close the back door now because Fletcher and Eli are dragging the garden in one piece at a time.  I see at least 4 rocks and a couple of branches laying on the living room floor.

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Here is a shitty picture of a coat hanger I covered last night.

And that is all because I'm feeling shitty.

And I don't want to make y'all feel shitty too.

I just want to say shitty one more time.

I'm So Much Better

Have you been watching Molly the Owl since her babies hatched?  They are hideously ugly, but cute at the same time.  Does that make sense?  And they grow so freakin' fast!  They are only about 2 weeks old now and are huge.  I would never guess they are baby owls just by looking.  They look more like buzzards or something.  The best time to watch is at night usually between 9PM and 10PM Central Time.  That's when the daddy owl, McGee, goes hunting and brings back lots of food for them to eat -- rats, rabbits, moles, opposum, etc.  Amazing!

I started looking around yesterday at all my crochet stuff (and other things) I've purchased lately and noticed something.  I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before....

Geez, do you think I have a problem?

  I'm such a freak.
I get on one thing and just do it to death!

As far as crochet goes, I've been working on three or four different things at once, which means I'm not getting very far on anything.  A row here, a round there, and nothing is even close to being done.  Oh, except remember those hexies I was working on?  I just have the last round to do on five of them and I'll be ready to put them together.  Maybe I'll get that done tonight.

I finally finished Twilight last night.  Between being sick and crocheting, it took me longer than normal to read.  I'm going to call Barnaby right now and see if he'll go get me the second book in the series and bring it home tonight.

Note to Hunter:  I'm waiting until I get the second book so I can send both of the posters if they have different ones.  I should know tonight.

I found a really cute blog that was interesting to look through one day when I was sick.  But you have to promise not to love her more than you love me.  You can find it here:  Color Me Katie

Want a Bite?

Just what every recovering sickie needs...a messy chili dawg!

It's good food.

Do ya like my new look?  Do ya?  Huh?

I still may have to do some tweaking.  That aqua is kind of hard to read.  And I don't know why my signature is suddenly not posting correctly.

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Oh my god, how boring.  I'm too tired to mess with it anymore.  Tomorrow I'll keep trying.  What a pain in the ass.

Bye-Bye Pink Blog

All this pink is starting to irritate me.  I have got to get rid of it pronto.  I hate changing up my space too often so I apologize in advance, but I just can't take the Pepto look anymore.  It's not depressing enough for me. LOL.  Too much sunshine and happiness pisses me off.

Shuddup...YOU are grouchy.

Pissy Sue
I'm feeling better today.  Yesterday was the worst of it and I stayed in bed all day and slept.  I'll be working on my purple pineapple afghan this afternoon and this evening while the race is on if I still feel up to it.

Thanks for the get-well wishes.  I think I'm on my way.

Cough, sneeze, cough, toot, giggle, gag, spit, cough, honk, cough, sniff...ugh, bleh.

Oh No

My throat started getting raw about midday.  It feels really dry and I'm hoarse.  Ugh.  I hope it's just allergies and will be gone in the morning.  PLEASE?

Nobody has sent me a recipe for rolls yet.  Hmpf.  Just bite me then.

I'm sorry.  I cannot be responsible for my behavior when I don't feel good.

Oh crap.  I don't even have any Nyquil or anything.

Barnaby is heating up some Campbell's Soup at Hand Chicken & Stars for me.  That should feel good on my throat.  He's such a good husband.

I'm whiney.

And boring.

American Idol sucks this season.

OMG, he just brought me the Chicken & Stars.  The warm broth feels so good on my throat.  But all the stars sank to the bottom and so did the chicken.  Who's the genius who thought of drinkable Chicken & Stars?  Any idiot knows the stars will sink and cannot be drunk drinked drunken drank from a cup.

I don't feel good enough to try a new dinner roll recipe tonight, even if you non-helpful people had shared a recipe with me.  WHICH YOU DIDN'T.

It's only 7:20 and I'm going to bed.

Please, Lord, help me to feel better when I wake up.  I have a ton of work I HAVE to do whether I'm sick or not.  People are counting on me.

Rolls & Lillies

Last night:

I’m on the hunt for a new dinner roll recipe because my old favorite has failed me the last three times I’ve made them. I don’t know what happened to this recipe because it used to be my go-to, no-fail, works-every-time, you-cannot-mess-this-up recipe that I cut out of Southern Living Magazine years and years ago. I had tried at least half a dozen dinner roll recipes in search of the best one, and that was it. But not anymore!

So I’m making a half-recipe of THESE rolls this evening as a test. They sure were less trouble and lots less time-consuming, so I’m hoping they turn out really well.  I haven't had a chance to look through that website yet, but it's something I really want to do.  Maybe there are better recipes in there.  I think I saw another roll recipe too.

What’s the deal with all the hyphens in this entry? I do not know. Stop obsessing over the hyphens. Nobody notices but you. Okay, fine then.

Later that same night:

Well, here's a picture of the rolls when they came out of the oven...

As you can see, they didn't rise either, DAMMIT, and they tasted more like a biscuit than a dinner roll.  My original roll recipe is better, even when it doesn't rise properly.  So the hunt is still on!

If anyone has a beloved recipe for homemade dinner rolls that I can try, please send it in the comments or email me if you have my address.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch today:

My sister gave me these flowers and cool vase on Easter.  The lillies were closed, but when I got up this morning, two of them had opened up completely.  Isn't the vase cool?  She got it at an art show in Florida.

A Closer Look

I have so many crochet things I want to do RIGHT NOW.  Oh, by the way, Barnaby found the purple pineapple afghan stuck in a random drawer.  I can't decide what I need to do first so I'm just doing nothing.  I'm paralyzed.  I have crochet paralysis.

I think I'll just finish those hexagons for the potholder/pincushion.  That's simple enough to keep me from feeling overwhelmed and may get me out of my paralysis.

To my best friend in the entire world...

Happy Birfday, Boon Pappy!!

I love you gobs

A Quickie

Go away, pervs!  I'm talking about a "quickie" entry.  Okay, that didn't sound right either.  Ha!  But you know what I mean.

I must be quick because I have work to do today!  Here we go...

I am loving this book!  I mean really.  I'm just dying for him to kiss me her.  I can't wait to go get all the other books in the series and I'm not even half-way through this one yet.

P.S.  I'm going to send Keri's daughter, Hunter, the poster.  She's a big fan of this series and is age-appropriate for the poster.

This is an apron my grandmother and great grandmother made.  They made the apron and did all that embroidery on it.  Isn't it pretty?  What a treasure.  My sister wore it yesterday while making Easter dinner.

Speaking of Easter dinner, I did NOT like the Strawberry No-Bake Cheesecake.  It was not sweet enough and had a wang to it from the cottage cheese.
Very disappointing, but pretty!

I made these three circles, which are actually the middle of hexagons, last night while watching the first part of Celebrity Apprentice.  I need to make five more in various combinations of these same colors.  I'm making either a pin cushion or a potholder.  I don't know which yet...probably a pin cushion, but we'll see.  I'm so fickle, I can't commit.

I'm off to work.  Be good now.

Not a List

If I knew how to knit, I'd make myself THIS for sure!  (Scroll down to the aqua and red garment.)  But alas, I do not know how to knit, nor do I have any interest in learning.  Yes, I'm a crochet snob.  I'm sure it could be crocheted as well, but I'm to lazy to figure it out.  Yes, I'm also a lazy snot.

Well, I was going to make a numbered list with random comments and links to go with them (like the one above), but I can't find anything else interesting and I'm out of time.  I have to go get cleaned up, fix my hair, put on some make-up, and go do the family thing for Easter.  Truth be told, I'd rather sit here in my PJs and surf the Web, crochet, read --

Oh!  I forgot to tell y'all.  I started Twilight last night and really like it.  Yea!

See ya.  Happy Easter.

Saturday Baking

This recipe and photo came from Mommy's Kitchen.

I made this recipe this morning for Easter Dinner tomorrow at my sister's house.  I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow.  It's still setting-up in the fridge.  It looks really pretty.  I hope it tastes as good as it looks.  I'll let you know after Sunday.

Strawberry No-Bake Cheesecake

6 honey graham crackers (2 squares each), crushed to fine crumbs
2 Tbsp butter, melted, and mixed with 1 Tbsp honey

1 box - (3 oz) strawberry flavor gelatin
2⁄3 cup boiling water
1 tub - (16 oz) low fat or regular cottage cheese
2 - bricks (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
2 - Tbsp sugar
2 - tsp strawberry extract or 1 tsp vanilla extract

1 pt - (about 12 oz) fresh strawberries
2 - Tbsp strawberry jelly, melted
Garnish: mint leaves, optional

Coat an 8 x 3-in. spring form pan with nonstick spray. Mix crumbs with butter mixture until evenly moistened. Press firmly over bottom and 3⁄4-inch up side of pan. Place in freezer. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water in a 1-cup measure. Puree cottage cheese in food processor until creamy. Add gelatin, cream cheese, sugar and extract; process until smooth. Pour into prepared crust; smooth top. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours, or until set. Wash and dry berries; remove stems. Quarter each lengthwise and place in a bowl; add jelly and gently toss to coat. Remove sides of spring form pan; place cheesecake on serving plate. Spoon on berry mixture; sprinkle with mint leaves. Planning Tip: Can be made, without the strawberry topping, up to 3 days ahead. Refrigerate covered. Prepare Topping just before serving. * This recipe can be easily adapted to a low cal recipe by substituting with all low fat or fat free ingredients.

I also have an Egg Custard Pie in the oven right now.  The directions I followed said to sprinkle generously with nutmeg after pouring the liquid into the pie plate.  Well, I forgot that step until about 2 minutes after I put it in the oven.  So I ran and got my nutmeg and grater and opened the oven door and tried to grate it really fast over the top.  Of course, you know what happened.  I dropped the whole nutmeg nut into the pie and it sunk to the bottom.  I tried to fish it out with a pair of tongs but couldn't find it, and I was making a hellofa mess in my oven sloshing that custard around AND the oven was getting cold with the door open for so long, so I said, "Screw it!" and just left it in there. Hopefully I'll remember that it's there and not break a tooth.  I'm not taking it to Easter dinner so it'll be just Barnaby and me eating it.

I still have to make some Mississippi Mudd later today and make the dough for the homemade rolls.  The dough can sit in the fridge overnight, and then I'll get up tomorrow and shape it into rolls, let them rise, and bake them right before we leave.

I slept like total crap last night.  I had a Venti Starbucks Iced Coffee yesterday at about 4:00, which usually doesn't bother me at night, but it sure did feel like a caffeine buzz I had going all night.  Lordie.  I nearly got up several times, but ended up laying there all night tossing and turning.  The dogs even got irritated at me for wiggling around disturbing their sleep.

I need to go back to Starbucks again right now or I feel a major nap coming on.  I have too much I want to do to nap today!

I have that pineapple shawl I want to restart.  I started it last night but the hook I used was too big so I need to frog it and start over with a smaller one.

And then when I went to the grocery store this morning, I was looking at the books.  I finally gave in and bought Twilight.  I had so many people recommend it to me, so I thought I'd go ahead and try it.  And these people were not young people, which is who I thought these books were geared-towards, but I guess not.  It had better be good for $7.99, dad-gummit.  All they had was a special-edition larger-than-normal-size paperback that included a poster.  I'm so sure.  Yes, I'm going to hang that poster in my bedroom next to my David Cassidy poster.  Ha-ha.

I just noticed on the tag it has "Teen" written on it for the category.  Well crap.  It had better not be a teeny-bopper book!

Here's the custard pie straight from the oven.
See where I tried to fish-out that nutmeg?
I made an ugly.  I bet it tastes good though.

It's Friday...

Rosemary is looking lovely, isn't she?  I love it when these purple-blue flowers bloom in the spring.  It's so pretty and smells so great.  I rub my hands all over it every time I walk by and keep smelling my hands.  Ahhh!

Speaking of rosemary...

I bought Suave Rosemary & Mint Shampoo and Conditioner the other day.
It smells like heaven rained down on your head...I love it!
I forgot to take a picture; sorry.
Just go look for the sage-green bottles.
You're smart.  You can handle it.

I finally got another ball of peach thread to continue the doily.
It's slow-going because it's so small and intricate, I can't do it for very long at once.
It's coming along though.

I got the yarn for the shawl in Crochet Today that I mentioned.
I ended up getting Caron Spa in Soft Sunshine.
Obviously, I changed my mind about doing it in white.

Y'all have a great Easter Weekend!

I have looked high and low and cannot find that purple pineapple afghan I started.  I tell you, it is gone!

More Pineapples

Thank you for all of your comments on the throw.  I really love the way it turned out too.  I want to do it in another color sometime, but right now I'm just glad to see it finished.  I washed it last night, and it's laying on a quilt drying in my guest bedroom.

Have y'all gotten the latest issue of Crochet Today magazine?  I got mine in the mail yesterday, and I just LOVE this shawl.  I'm definitely going to make it, but I need to get to Hobby Lobby for some thread for it first.  I'm kind of tired of crocheting with white at the moment, but I think it would look best for this pattern.

Not a great picture, but you get the idea.
I love crochet pineapples!

I bet this would even be pretty made in a sport weight yarn or Caron Spa.  Hmm.  I'll have to consider that.  I love working with Caron Spa yarn.

Of course, I have to finish my purple pineapple afghan next.  I have no idea where I put it.  I'll have to go dig around and find it when I'm finished with this entry.  I remember being disappointed when I put it aside to make the Annie's Lace Throw, but I wanted to be sure and get that one done for Mother's Day.

Y'all have a great day.
