Oh Baby, Yum!

Avocado Hummus

I had to post and tell y'all about this recipe. It's so delicious!
I followed the recipe exactly, although I was tempted to add more salt and garlic.
It's perfect just the way it is.
I found a link to the recipe on Pinterest.
HERE it is.

Even the Captain is raving, and he doesn't like Guacamole or Hummus.
Well, I guess he does now!

Fletch is doing better today already. The swelling is much less (he actually has full-size toes today), and he's been up a little more. He's still not his old self, but I can tell he's probably going to get there. He thanks you for all of the well wishes and comments for him. Consider your nose licked!

We Have a Sickie Here

If I took 100 pictures of Fletch today (and I think I may have), he'd have this same look on his face. He doesn't feel good.

You see, yesterday his ill-tempered little brother, Eli, jumped all over him and bit his foot and shook it, ripping all the ligaments and tendons in his foot. We had no idea until it swelled up something awful later that day. In less than 24 hours, infection set in and he was in trouble and definitely not acting like our usual happy-skippy Fletch.

It's hard to see well in these pictures, but his right front foot and leg are swollen up. He has one deep puncture wound on the underside of his foot near his dew claw.

And he can't put any pressure on it at all.
(There's that look again.)

Pick me up, Momma. I'm sick.

He stayed at the vet's all afternoon getting his foot tended to and IVs full of antibiotics. $309.00 later, we went and picked him up and brought him home with instructions and pills and ointment for days. Nothing is broken (we got xrays too), but it's all ripped up and infected inside. Ew.

This is a picture of my nightstand.  My plans for the evening are evident.  Salted and roasted peanuts, celebrity smut mags, and TV. Speaking of magazines, I found a "new" one that I love...

HGTV Magazine. It's a goodie. I bought one last month and sent in my subscription card, and this month I got it in the mail. I love a good magazine!

Fletcher will be on the floor next to me in his bed getting love and attention whenever he needs it.

I've told y'all this before, but I'll say it again. Don't ever get two male dogs! In my experience, two females are fine, a male and a female are fine, but two male dogs do not make for a peaceful home. Inevitably, they will get into to it over one thing or another, and they are vicious with each other. It's a fight to the death over something really stupid like a toy or food. This time it was over Fletcher sticking his nose too close while Eli was licking Sammi's belly. Eli was NOT sharing Sammi's belly and was willing to kill over it. Stupid alpha male crap!

A Little Blah

Another garland...

With thread decorations on them.

I think this is all that big knob on the succulent is going to do.
Nearly all the tiny little buds are bloomed out now.

The bird seed thief on the prowl...

He's loving the sunflower seeds.

I threw on a pot of spaghetti sauce for dinner later.

I haven't been in a very talkative mood here the past few days. Oh well. A few pictures will do ya, won't it? You guys aren't so picky.

I've been looking through my crochet books trying to find anything that strikes my fancy to make next. I did get all the yarn to make that gray granny blanket. (I tried to photograph it the other day, but the colors refused to cooperate. I'll try again soon.) I've had my mind on a blanket that's been sitting in pieces in a basket by the bed waiting to be finished. I really love it so I do need to finish it, and I'd love to see it done in all its glory.

I guess I'm just not feeling all that ambitious about anything at the moment. I'm kinda BLAH.

I could do some yoga...

Old Mandalas & Wildlife

I washed a couple of old mandalas that needed it and hung them out to dry.

Paula asked what kind of yarn I used for the coffee can cover I crocheted. I really don't know because I used yarn from this bin that I put all my leftover bits of yarn in. It's most likely either Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, Vanna's, or Red Heart -- all worsted weight.

A shot of a big Grackle in our neighbor's tree.
You can see that he's holding up his left leg.
I see him all the time, and he never uses that leg. It must be injured.
He sure makes a lot of racket whistling and screeching.

I went to the park by our house to get some camera practice in...

I'll have some new crochet things to show you next time.
It's good stuff!

Plants and Dogs

I crocheted this coffee can cover last night while watching TV. This is one of the new succulents I bought.

This is the other new one. It reminds me of green beans. It was in a tiny little pot, and when I repotted it, it really spread out. Now it looks almost too big for this pot.

Here are all the ones I've kept inside in my kitchen window.
I need to trim and repot that old ivy.
I've had it a long time and have made many new plants with it.

Here's a better shot of that one I told you about that has shot up at least six inches and is about to bloom. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it does.

Some kind of purple stuff the Captain planted.
Coleus or hosta?

Miss Jane finally sat still long enough for me to get a good picture. She's almost totally blind now, but she's always happy and prances around the house and yard like a princess. You'd never know she was blind most of the time if you couldn't see her eyes.

This might have been a good picture if I'd had my camera set correctly. None of the pictures of Ollie or Sammi turned out very well so I just deleted them except this one. I didn't have the white balance set right and Ollie just looked like a bright-white shining blob with not much detail. Sammi was out of focus in all of hers.

Sleepy Fletch.
On the back of the couch where he's not supposed to be.

I finally put the dye on my hair and I'm waiting for the time to pass as I type this. I didn't set a timer, but I'm keeping a close eye on the clock. I'd better go before I get distracted and turn my hair pink or something.

See ya!
