In With the New...

A new doily is being born, and my iPhone is out the door today.
We're getting new ones. Not sure what kind yet.

I got myself some proper, more official-looking journals to draw in.

This tea is SO FREAKIN' GOOD!
Just opening the box and taking a whiff made my eyeballs roll back in my head.

A little sweetener and a dash of milk in mine, please.
Ollie approves of the new tea too.

I've wanted to try my hand at Paperwhites the last few years, but I could never remember to buy the bulbs in time so I'd have a Christmas bloom. I'm looking forward to watching them. I'm going to put them in some kind of pot in the house and maybe take them outside for a bit when it's not too cold out. They like the cooler weather apparently.

If you ever grow these and have any tips about planting or growing them, please leave me a comment. I need all the help I can get with plants and/or flowers!

I didn't make a drawing yesterday. It was our 22nd anniversary, and we had many errands to run so were gone a lot of the day. Instead of drawing yesterday evening, I started that new doily and then finished the book I was reading. The book was not great, but I did finish it. I wouldn't recommend it. It was a non-fiction book about a man that was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given three months to live. Though it was meant to be uplifting (I think?), it missed the mark for me. I'd rather draw goofy hearts and cat eyeballs and pretend everything is good.

See ya.
Oh, Happy Halloweenie!

Suck Pie and Something Different

Coconut Cream Pie

Looks so pretty, but it SUCKED so I threw it away! It was an Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie recipe I found on Pinterest...if you see it, don't bother. It didn't set up and it tasted like there was way too much flour in it, which there was, and I knew it when I was making it. But is does make me wonder why it didn't set up with all that flour in it.

My suggestion for your coconut sweet tooth instead...
Get some of these Lindor Coconut Milk Chocolate Truffles.
Oh silky smooth and good.

Does anybody have any idea why I am gaining weight instead of losing? I just can't figure it out. Hee-hee.

Something different...and childish.

Uh, um...
What can I say about THOSE?
Other than I draw like a first-grader?

I've always loved to look at other people's sketch journals or whatever you call them. I wish I was better at it, but I'm just not. The drawing part of my brain is missing a chromosome. I don't even know if that makes sense. But I'm enjoying doing it, and that's what matters. I need to add some text about my day when I make these to make them more of a journal or diary. They might be fun to look at in a few years (for me).

You can see that first one I did was back on Memorial Day. "Merry Memorial Day"? Who says that?  I don't think Memorial Day is supposed to be merry, is it? Oh well. I had totally forgotten I even made it until I found it in a drawer two days ago and decided to try again. I don't mind embarrassing myself by showing these. That part of my brain doesn't work well either! Ha. I just don't care.

I think I'll start showing these at the end of my posts when I make one.

I haven't crocheted anything for a few days. I have no desire. I just remembered I did get a new book for my Kindle a couple of days ago. I think I'll go read a bit of it and see if it holds my attention. If it's good, you'll be the first to know!

See ya.

Doilies in the Breeze

See Eli's face in the bottom of the door?

Oh my, did I have fun playing with some of my doilies this morning.
They make me smile like an idiot.

Random Junk

1.  I've started snoring in the past few weeks. I know because I wake myself up a thousand times during the night. I wake up in the mornings with a sore throat every day now. Sigh. What next?

2.  I hold my breath when I'm taking photos and trying to get the camera focused just right. Sometimes I nearly pass out before I realize I'm doing it.

3.  My mailman's name is Leonard. Who the hell is named Leonard anymore? Don't you at least go by a nickname like Lenny or Len or even Larry or Leo? Leonard is just weird to me. I have the urge to pronounce it Lee-oh-nard, as in Leonardo, which is also weird.

4.  I buy printed scrapbook paper, and I don't even scrapbook, nor do I want to. I love to look at the different sheets of patterns. Sometimes I buy more than one sheet of a pattern just because one is not enough. Enough for what, I do not know.

5.  The bird feeder has attracted rats. The Captain came face to face with one the other night (the rat was sitting at eye-level inside a bush in the backyard). They both just froze and stared at each other. Ever since then, Cap has been trying to catch one in one of two mousetraps he placed along the fence (high enough so the dogs don't get into them) with no luck.  Here's a story about rats...

When we lived in another house, one of our cars, which we always parked in the garage, suddenly stopped working. We had to have it towed to the repair shop to find out what was wrong. We found out that a rat (or mouse) had chewed up one of the hoses under the hood. Apparently the rats were attracted to the dog food we stored in the garage, and when the dog food wasn't enough, they ate the rubber hoses. It cost several hundred dollars to repair.

So the Captain was PISSED! The very next night, he sat on an upturned bucket in the dark with his night vision equipment he uses at work and a BB gun. Now in my head, I was all, "He's never going to kill a damn mouse with a BB gun! How dumb! But it didn't take but about an hour before I heard the first bang of the gun being fired. And then I heard, "I GOT YOU, BASTARD!"

Damn, he's good.

I'm gonna go finish my yellow doily. Have a good weekend. See ya.

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

Quite Rightly.
I'm making a doily I've made before and loved.
I gave the other one away so I'm keeping this one for myself.
The yellow is not quite as harsh as it shows here.
It's more pastel and mellow than it looks.

Other than that, I gots nothin'.

I made a big pan of baked spaghetti yesterday, which I've showed pictures of a million times here in the past. We really love spaghetti. Then I made another Sour Cream Apple Pie this morning at the Captain's request...

I doubled the topping this time.
This was before I baked it.
It's not such a pretty pie once it's baked...

But it sure does taste good!

I think it's the sweet, eggy, sour cream filling that's made it our favorite apple pie recipe now. It's best at room temperature after it cools, but it has to be refrigerated after that.

Fletch steals my desk chair every single time I get up. Sometimes we can't find him anywhere in the house, and he's here sleeping. We've learned to look here first.

Yikes! That's quite a face to take a close-up of.

Sweet Sammi. She's getting so gray. Remember when she was younger and her face was all black? You don't?  Well...

Wow. I was shocked when I went back and found this picture. No, Sammi! Don't get old and leave me! Ah well. When she does, I know that I've given her a life of a princess. She's been spoiled and loved and adored and cuddled and cherished, and she's given me the same in return. Here's to a few more years of happiness and health with you, my Sammi Girl.

Now that I've made myself cry...what else can I do to waste time and avoid working?  Hmm...

Oh my gosh...look at Eli!
GAH! He was a tiny little fur ball!

Okay, enough of memory lane. I know it's only fun for me.
I guess I have to work.

See ya.

Nature and Nurture

 Oh My!
Homemade Apple Turnovers?

Pammy Sue, you've outdone yourself.
Well, not really.

And icing too?!
Don't be too impressed...

But do get some of these next time you're at the store.
They have cherry too.

Perfect for a Sunday morning.
I doctored mine by putting sugar and cinnamon on top before baking.

And yesterday...

I made our favorite potato salad with ham, boiled eggs, green onion, and mayo.

And the final touch...lots of Hungarian Paprika.
Put a serving on a plate with some pretzel sticks.
They go perfect together.

And finally...

Today is my momma's 79th birthday.
Happy Birthday, Momma.
